Bio

Elizabeth Greene is a passionate artist who’s lived and worked on Martha's Vineyard for more than 30 years. She’s in constant awe of The Island’s beauty and diversity and is always hoping to capture this feeling in her pieces.

Elizabeth earned a degree in Art History in 1988, but it wasn’t til two decades later that she decided to try her own hand with color, canvas and chiaroscuro . Her favorite medium was inspired by Matisse and his paper cut-outs . She has found paper ripping and cutting to be “most therapeutic.” Her collage oeuvres have gained recognition at the ALL-Island Art Show as well as The Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Fair. Her artistic talent extends beyond her personal pursuits, as she also works as a designer for Island businesses.

When not immersed in her creative endeavors, Elizabeth enjoys giving back to the community through  her volunteer work and loves tending to her West Tisbury gardens with her husband. She appreciates her loving children , Alice, Walter and Michelle who patiently put up with her untidy workspaces and infrequent mood fluctuations.

She would like to thank her framing team of Richard Greene and the talented Ed McCracken for their beautiful craftsmanship.
